Walker Hayes Misses CMT Awards After Losing Newborn With His Wife

Breaking News

Walker Hayes and his wife Laney are mourning the loss of their newborn baby girl. The 38 year old was scheduled to appear at Wednesday CMT awards but stayed by his wife’s side when she went into labor with the couple’s seventh child.  Later he posted this heartbreaking comment on social media.

“It is with great sadness that Laney and I share with you the news that our sweet Oakleigh Klover Hayes was born this morning at the hospital and now is safely in heaven,” he wrote. “Thank you for honoring our privacy as we grieve.”

Last year ET interviewed the up and coming country singer and he said this about his family life:

“My wife is amazing. She’s my high school sweetheart. I met her in 11thgrade. We’ve been on this journey hand-in-hand held tight together. She’s incredible,” Hayes said of Laney. “We have a unique family situation, obviously, in this business. I don’t meet a lot of people who can relate, but it works for us.”

Our hearts are broken and our prayers are with Walker Hayes and his family during this difficult time.
