‘The Lion King’ Debuts with Record $185M & ‘Endgame’ Becomes Global #1
Disney’s box office dominance was in full effect again this weekend. For the first time in six weekends, the box office revenue topped last year’s, over the same weekend. And it’s all thanks to Disney’s live-action remake of “The Lion King,” which topped the box office with a record $185 Million! In fact, the movie made more over the weekend than the entire box office take from this weekend last year.
Disney also hit a new milestone this weekend, as “Avengers: Endgame” surpassed “Avatar” to become the highest grossing worldwide release of all-time. While it’s still #2 all-time in America, trailing behind “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.”
