Nevada AG Joins Others In Investigating Ticketmaster Over Taylor Swift Controversy
Nevada attorney general and AGs from Tennessee and North Carolina will investigate Ticketmaster for “alleged deceptive or unfair trade practices” following the fans of Taylor Swift who attempted to get tickets for her “Eras” Tour and reported experiencing severe system errors. “Our office has received consumer complaints regarding the recent issues with Ticketmaster, and we are investigating the company for alleged deceptive or unfair trade practices,” a tweet from the Nevada AG office. Tennessee’s AG Jonathan Skrmetti says Ticketmaster is an example of a company that may have violated fair trade and antitrust laws. Skrmetti’s office tweeted, “Fans deserve a fair chance to buy a ticket. I’m encouraged by other state AGs who are taking this issue seriously as well.” The Department of Justice will also investigate Ticketmaster’s parent company, LiveNation, for antitrust violations. Do you believe bots and scalpers make it hard to get tickets for your favorite shows? Do you think there is a way to prevent bots and scalpers from buying up tickets and reselling them at outrageous prices?
