Jimmie Allen Delivers Tearful Speech After Winning New Artist of the Year
Jimmie Allen fought back tears as he accepted his New Artist of the Year trophy at the 55th Annual CMA Awards on Wednesday night. The “Why Things Happen” the singer recalled his attendance at the 50th CMA Awards telling the audience, “Five years ago, I spent my last $100 and came to the CMA Awards for the 50th to watch Charley Pride perform on stage,” last year Allen performed with Pride. It would be his last performance at the CMAs, he died from the Coronavirus last year. Allen thanked his deceased father, who introduced him to country music, his wife, and manager Ash Bowers.
