America’s box office sweetheart of the 50s and 60s has passed away at age 97.

She was a legendary actress and singer. She starred in Pillow TalkMidnight Lace and Love Me or Leave Me. Her hit songs includedWhatever Will Be Will Be (Que Sera), from Alfred Hitchcock’sThe Man Who Knew Too Much. Her squeaky clean image was known all around Hollywood, so much so that she is referenced in Grease during the song Look At Me, I’m Sandra Dee.

The Doris Day Animal Foundation confirmed the singer and actress died early on Monday at her home in Carmel Valley, California. She had been in excellent physical health for her age, until recently contracting a serious case of pneumonia.

RIP.
